Dear Parent :
This year again, due to the generosity of a grant from Oak Ridge Associated Universities and the collaboration of Pellissippi State Technical Community College (PSTCC), we have a unique opportunity for the physiology class at Clinton High School. ORAU has provided a grant to purchase the human cadaver for PSTCC’s anatomy & physiology program, and Dr. Jim Kelley, Department Head at Pellissippi, is graciously providing the opportunity for my students to perform the cadaver dissection.
I have arranged for my physiology students to participate in this human cadaver dissection if they so desire. They will be assisting me in preparing the cadaver for the PSTCC classes. In addition, for a portion of the time, Dr. Randy Robbins, a local orthopedic surgeon, may be involved with us and demonstrating surgical procedures. He has in the past and is invited this year.
It is my hope that you will permit your student to
participate with me in this activity. We will do this on Monday and Tuesday, Oct
13 &14. which is during Fall Break. Students will need to provide their
transportation to and from PSTCC – we meet there. I see this as an opportunity for your
son or daughter
to experience a medical school environment ahead of those they will later be
competing against. My objective is for them to gain comfort, confidence, and
skill in working with the human body. I am proud of the fact that students at
Thank you.
